Trekking in the Sierra Madre and Palanan

Walking across the jungle of the Sierra Madre, Philippines guided by the Dumagats on the Bisag Trail from Palanan to San Mariano

When we headed to Palanan to trek along the said challenging Bisag Trail, Seb, Wlad and I, Philippe were expecting to have hard times walking, sweating, sleeping in the rough, and well we had all that.

But there was one thing we were not expecting at all, and what made to us this experience forever memorable is to discover a glimpse of the Dumagats who guided us through the Jungle.

Ayme, Toni, Rafi and Edmon were the best guides you can ever imagine of. They walk you through the forest with ease and pace... hell of a pace actually. They let you rest when you need to. When it's time to challenge you, well they will make a joke and pretend you would arrive by night in the campsite so you run down the trails. They are extra skillfull when it comes to anything about survival in the forest: fishing, building, cooking...

And they have one more thing, they can't stop laughing and joking...

When I've seen 50 years old Ayme sit on the rotten trunk his friend Toni was relaxing on in the only aim to make it crack, just like a 5 years old will do, it may just have been the best of my trip...

A big up to them to whom we are dedicating this site, may a few adventurous one follow our paths and contact them for a lifetime experience, you can go wherever with these guys, you're in rock solid hands!!!!
